'All health care tries to relieve pain and to cure - but good health care tries to do more. Spirituality emphasises the healing of the person, not just the disease’. Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Kerin Webb has been in clinical practice since 1997. He is qualified in a wide-range of healing modalities, including Clinical Hypnosis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Counselling, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Existential Well-Being Counselling, Indian Head Massage, Life Coaching, Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), Provocative Therapy, Reiki, Shamanic Hypnotherapy, Silva Method, Spiritual Healing and Thought Field Therapy (TFT). He tutored an accredited integrative diploma course in Counselling Skills, Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, CBT, NLP and Life Coaching for 14 years. His students and clients have included university professors, psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, community psychiatric nurses, counsellors, clinical hypnotherapists, solicitors, teachers and trainers, social workers, British peerage, TV and radio presenters, and many other people from all walks of life... including one NHS surgeon who experienced hypnotherapy with Kerin to enhance his surgery method. Above all, though, Kerin recognises that what counts most in the healing process is an authentic desire to help another person to improve their sense of wellbeing. The genuine desire to help takes precedence over methodology. There are many ways 'to Rome', so to speak, as long as one is moving in the right direction.
In his quest to learn from the best, alongside the accredited training Kerin completed, he attended seminars led by some of the world's top exponents of Indirect Hypnosis and NLP, including Dr Richard Bandler, Paul McKenna PhD and the world's leading life coach, Anthony Robbins. Kerin once took the opportunity to attend one of mentalist Derren Brown's shows, in order to observe his method, due his high regard for Derren's talent. On a number of occasions Kerin invited international experts to present training courses for him in the UK, including Carol Lankton M.A. (Carol was trained directly by Dr Milton Erickson, and as a result she has presented hypnosis many times at the Erickson Congress), Stephen Brooks (one of the world's leading Indirect Hypnosis trainers), Professor Frank Farrelly (the developer of Provocative Therapy, who was himself trained directly by Dr Carl Rogers, the developer of Person-Centred Counselling) and Matthew Manning (the most scientifically tested healer in the world, who co-hosted the TV series Beyond Belief with Sir David Frost and Uri Geller). In the field of psychic/mediumship Kerin attended events presented by some of the world's top mediums, including John Edward, Lisa Williams, Tony Stockwell, T.J. Higgs, Derek Acorah, James Van Praagh and Colin Fry. Kerin also attended a past-life regression seminar in London, led by Dr Brian Weiss, author of Many Lives, Many Master, as well as talks presented by Lynne McTaggart (author of The Field and of What Doctors Don’t Tell You, etc), William Bloom (author of Working With Angels, Fairies And Nature Spirits, etc), Graham Hancock (author of Keeper of Genesis, etc), Masaru Emoto (author of The Hidden Messages In Water), nutritionist, Patrick Holford (author of Natural Highs, etc) and historian / journalist Michael Portillo.
Kerin believes that, when coupled with the right attitude, the more widely trained a healer is, the more likely they are to be able to help the widest range of people. This approach to healing is called the Multimodal Therapy method. This principle is surprisingly similar to Bruce Lee's approach to martial arts. Bruce developed a method called Jeet Kune Do, which incorporated the best principles he observed within a wide range of combat techniques, to create what is regarded by many today to be the 'ultimate' martial art. Multimodal Therapists follow the same principle in the context of healing, studying widely, whilst avoiding limiting themselves to one 'form' (method) in order to present a broad range of good quality therapy.
'There are no qualifications for the kind of person I must be. What is wanted for the big therapy process, the big development process is a person who will be present… That—I think—is the first job we have. That is so necessary in a field that is becoming more and more "professional," which is to say useless and expensive.' Professor Eugene Gendlin.
As a healer, it's Kerin's understanding that there is value to be found in many of the world religions, especially with regard to the subject of healing of the soul. Whilst it's true that revelation is progressive and different cultures may have nuanced perspectives on some spiritual matters, nevertheless the discerning seeker will notice that the 'golden thread' to be found in all genuine epiphany is the value of authentic love, which means that the 'my God is bigger than your God' mentality tends to lead in the opposite direction to genuine soul development. In contrast, the wise maintain an appreciation of the descriptions presented by men and women through the ages who've experienced closeness to a Higher Power, recognising that these encounters act as 'signposts' to fellow travellers who are themselves seeking ever closer union with The Divine. When we look deeply enough, we find a seemingly diverse group of individuals, spread throughout recorded history (some well-known and others less recognised), whose members include, for example (listed for your reference and further research), Al-Ghazali, Annie Besant, The Bab, Baha'u'llah, Buddha, St Francis of Assisi, George Fox, Guilhabert de Castres, Hadewijch of Antwerp, Helena Blavatsky, Jacob Boehme, Jesus, John Wesley, Kurozumi Munetada, Lao Tzu, Mani, Mohammed, Guru Nanak, Ramakrishna, Rudolph Steiner, Rumi, Sai Baba, St Theresa of Avila, St Therese of Lisieux, Zoroaster and more who have, together, in their own ways, taught humanity much about soul healing. As we look further, we notice too, that the extraordinary example set by the French prophetess, Jehanne la Pucelle, can teach us much about applied faith, whilst the Hindu scriptures reveal wisdom on the devotional method of worship called Bhakti, which can lead a soul to Oneness with the Divine. Wicca and Paganism too, have their Truths to share. Through the lens of experiential Gnosticism, hermeneutics, mysticism, shamanism and spiritualism, Kerin shares his spiritual insights and evidence of his personal encounters with a Divine Spirit in his readings and through his books, to assist others who are themselves in the process of making their way to union with a Higher Power.
'I've made it my life's work to help alleviate suffering, as best I can, by taking a natural, human approach to healing and therapy. Whilst it's true that I've invested the necessary time to familiarise myself with a wide variety of methods to help people to grow, I don't though follow a rote route to therapy, but prefer instead to interact in a normal conversational manner, speaking from the perspective of one soul in dialogue with another soul. From this basis I learn what my clients need to improve their sense of wellbeing, whilst identifying whatever it is that challenges each client (such as abuse, addiction, anxiety, coercive/dysfunctional family dynamics, cult mind control, depression, domestic abuse, emotional dysregulation, existential crisis, fear (abandonment, humiliation, etc), indecision, kundalini awakening, lack of purpose, mystic experience, OCD, phobia, physical pain, psychic opening, PTSD, racism, relationship issues, shamanic 'death and rebirth', shame, soul shock, spiritual emergency, twin flame dynamics, etc) and then when we have, together, agreed upon our best first steps I proceed in the process of healing with each client, by giving space for each unique soul to tap into their own source of inner wisdom, by using all the skills I have available to me, including extensive life experience.' Kerin Webb, MA, DHP.
Kerin was delighted to be invited to become a contributing author for the new Clinical Hypnosis Textbook - A Guide For Practical Intervention (third edition), which is a core textbook for the Master's Degree training programme in clinical hypnotherapy for Robert Gordon University. This programme was led by Professor Ursula James, who is the core textbook author, and other chapter contributions have been made by experts in the field, including William Broom of the General Hypnotherapy Register, plus Tod Curry, Shaun Brookhouse, Dan Jones, Jacquelyne Morison, C. Roy Hunter, Andy Tomlinson and Mark Davis, whilst Dr Ernest Rossi, who is one of the world's leading hypnotherapists and co-author of several books written with the equally legendary Dr Milton Erickson, has contributed the foreword. Kerin's own book, The Language Pattern Bible (a guidebook for professional therapists), was published in 2005.
'The older I grow the more I trust ‘presence’ as the core condition for change and growth, and I experience ‘love’ as the most powerful healer of the suffering soul.' Mia Leijssen, Professor Emeritus, KU Leuven University.
